In this month’s newsletter we talked about new beginnings for us and our families at the start of the new academic year.  I explained the importance of taking time to focus on those goals and aspirations that may have been kept on a back burner for some time. Where January has traditionally been the month for fresh starts, many of the experts agree that September can be an equally good time to start over.

A week or so into the new school term, have you had any success with making time to focus on what you want? It’s ok if you haven’t, you may be waiting for things to settle with the children ...

This month’s Empower touched upon the topic of having a stress free summer. Continuing on from that theme I thought I’d delve a little deeper into once element that can have the biggest impact on keeping stress at bay. Planning.

Managing the summer holidays with a family in many ways is no different to managing a project at work. We have all sorts of important things to consider: Timescales - roughly 6-8 weeks, budget - to be determined by how many outings or ice creams the children want, milestones - each weekend signifies one week survived and one less to find a multitude of things to occ...

If I asked you to tell me who you are without being able to use titles such as mum, wife, partner, sister, manager, employee what would you answer? Would you answer easily or would you find it difficult?

Often as women, it can feel our identity is so tied up in who we are to others, we forget who we are to ourselves. What we love, what makes us happy, what we stand for. It’s easy to know who we in our responsibility roles. We play those roles on autopilot. They are so well rehearsed, we don’t have to think about them. How often do we get the chance to be ‘ourselves’ and revel in what that fee...

In the last blog we looked at self worth and and how it relate to the value we place on ourselves. Following on from that, we’ll explore values, how we determine what’s important to us and why.

If we were asked the question - What are your top 10 values? We would probably answer in different ways. Based on our life experiences and priorities, our value system is as individual as we are - but what exactly are values?

Values are a way of describing what’s most important to us in life and often determine our day-to day and overall priorities. These priorities are likely to determine how close ...

This month’s newsletter explored self-worth and how for each of us, it ties in with what we believe about ourselves. It can feel as if our belief and values are fixed. In many instances the values we grow up with and are instilled in us, usually from our parents and teachers, are one we take with us through life. They help us navigate the world and give us a sense of ‘knowing’ and belonging. They don’t change much, if at all and they are just what we believe.

When looking at values about ourselves it can be unhelpful for them to be fixed as sometimes the level of value we place on ourselves i...

My last blog covered the topic of starting to get to grips with the clutter that may have accumulated over some time in your home. The process of decluttering doesn’t need to be a stressful one but it does require some discipline.

Today I’d like to look at the bit that most of us find difficult when it comes to deciding what should stay and what should go. Letting go of the things we no longer need to keep. How do we decide what should stay and what should go? After all, we don’t generally come from a place of buying and storing things we think we don’t need. Often the items that create the c...

Spring has officially sprung and with Shrove Tuesday traditionally allowing for clearing out the pantry, the start of Spring seems a good time to have a general clear out. In this month’s Empower we talked about the effects clutter can have not just on the appearance of our homes but also how it can make us feel.

Sometimes when we’re moving from one task to the next and the days seem to blend into one another it’s easy for mess and clutter to accumulate quickly. Before you know it, the few pieces of mail you promised yourself you would deal with has turned into a mountain of paperwork, embe...

My last blog covered gaining clarity from January reflection in order to stay on track with our goals. I highlighted the importance of taking a three-step approach to getting clarity around our goals to make it easier to successfully achieve what we set out to.

Clarity is the first step, knowing the benefits is the second step, the final step is making sure the goal is a core goal, one that is directly linked to at lease one of our core values. This step makes feeling motivated or even inspired into action much easier as we are more invested in the outcome.

We have clarity, we know the bene...

This month’s newsletter covered resolutions and the fact that most are broken by 15th January every year due to a lack of willpower but perhaps more likely a lack of planning for success. Often the changes we want to make require a huge shift and it’s always easier to fall back into old habits than make new ones.

What can we do to help ourselves set goals we actually follow through with? The key to this is clarity. You may be clear that your goal is one that is for you rather than a ‘should’ goal. You may be satisfied there are some benefits to your goal, it’s unlikely that we would set a g...

In my last post I spoke about getting clear on your Inspirational Vision and making sure it was what you wanted rather than what you thought you should want. I also explained the importance of your vision being in line with your core values in order for it to inspire you into action.

With the help of that blog, you should now have your Inspirational Vision in place. The next step is to work backwards from the end result to help you create the action plan and milestones that will lead you to achieve the success you want throughout 2017.

Hopefully, you are feeling highly motivated, encourage...
