Super Simple Space Saving Solutions
Mar 12, 2012

De-cluttering is often in the forefront of many mums’ minds as springtime approaches. No matter what time of year it is, lives are still busy, routines are still hectic, so here are five super simple space saving solutions for your home!

Wall Shelves
Wall shelves are inexpensive and easy to put up. They are great space savers, especially in areas of the home such as the utility room, home office, playroom and kids’ bedrooms. Set up high, items you don’t want youngsters to touch can be stored safely out of reach. High wall shelves offer the perfect solution to safely storing belongings from cleaning products to precious ornaments.

Baskets
Baskets offer a pretty solution to storage problems and can be used throughout the home. You can store spare bedding in baskets on top of wardrobes, use them to hold loo rolls and personal hygiene products in the bathroom and store magazines in baskets that match your decor in the living room. Just make sure they don’t hold clutter – throw out the things you don’t need!

Bookcases
Adding a bookcase to your lounge and bedrooms provides a home for so many different things from books, DVDs, CDs, family photographs and ornaments. Bookshelves are available in so many finishes and colours, and to suit any budget, that you will easily find exactly what you need for the different areas of your home.

Under The Stairs
If you’ve nothing but the bogeyman squatting under your stairs, it’s time for his eviction! Space under the stairs provides a great storage solution to a variety of everyday clutter. If it is behind a door, fill it with shelves and hooks to hold shoes and coats. If you have an open space under the stairs, utilise it to house furniture such as a computer desk. With extra lighting, this is an easy way to reclaim and use lost space.

Under Bed Storage
If you’ve open space or drawers under beds, you can quickly house lots of items that become clutter in your home. Under bed drawers make great storage for towels, bedding and out-of-season clothes. Organise your children’s toys into colourful boxes and slide them under their beds if you have the space available. Remember to teach them to return the boxes when they’ve finished playing with their toys!

This invaluable guide will empower you to tackle your clutter once and for all! Read how one inspirational mum found it:

“I was feeling overwhelmed and out of control with my three  young kids, husband away and work. Clutter was holding me back from my vision of a perfect home. One of the major impacts of clutter was my relationship with my husband. It was driving him mad and affecting his "Chi", leaving me feeling constantly guilty and disorganised. Clutter was dragging me down.

There are SO many things I have learnt from this course. Number 1 is that it’s OK to get rid of clutter. Give yourself permission. Let go. Relinquishing my clutter gave me a very strong sense of clarity. A huge weight lifted. It allowed more space mentally and physically in my life. AMAZING. There were so many great tools, techniques and exercises that were so simple but really effective. You can walk away with these in your pocket and keep them forever. I learnt that I have held on to too many objects in my life for all sorts of reasons. But now I know what those reasons are I can face them and deal with the ridding of objects or de-cluttering!

There is more value in a free-flowing environment, where things are easier to find and there is less choice, as it makes life simple and calm. I have learnt how to plan and have a strategy in place for keeping my home in this great state of FLOW that my family loves. I have instantly become more decisive in getting rid of clutter!”
