How To Make Time For You

When life is already hectic and your diary seems to be bursting with things to do and places to be, finding time for yourself may seem challenging! Yet, it is vital you start making time for yourself before your health and well-being starts to seriously suffer.

The first thing you must do is identify what it is you would like to do during your time-out. Or, to put it another way, what personal goals would you like to achieve now you’ve committed to making the time to fulfil your own needs?

Time for self-care can be spent doing anything that makes you feel happy, fulfils your needs and gives you a sense of purpose. Here are a few suggestions:

Time to exercise
To improve your fitness, tone up or simply lose weight, you may want to join a gym or put on an exercise DVD. You may want to train for a specific purpose, such as a 5km charity run.

Time to relax
Relaxation is a great way to recharge your batteries. If you enjoy reading, take time-out with a good book. You might enjoy visiting your local beauty salon for a treatment or a massage to ease your aches and pains. An early night might just be what you need to catch up on much-needed sleep!

Time to learn
Whether it is a new skill, hobby or university degree, you can use your time-out to work towards achieving personal lifelong goals. Find classes in your area or online to help fulfil your ambitions, broaden your knowledge and improve your future prospects.

Time to see friends
Perhaps you’d like to catch-up with friends one evening a week. They may also be feeling unfulfilled in life, which is why this would help all of you. Make time to see each other without the children so you can give your full attention to offer support if needed.

Whatever you choose to do, ensure you schedule it into your routine. Allow yourself an early night at least once a week as well as time to enjoy a specific activity. It will make you feel so much better and your family really will notice a difference! Don’t delay: bring confidence, balance and joy into your life with self-care and start enjoying life again!
