Empowering Working Mums As International Women’s Day Is Celebrated
Mar 08, 2010

As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, 8th March, a new online resource provided by Empowering Mumpreneurs has been launched to enable working mums who face the challenging task of coping with the day to day reality of running a business, supporting a family and managing a home to seek professional support from an experienced and qualified professional coach.  Empowering Mumpreneurs now provides online coaching to help women focus on and develop their business, whilst encouraging, motivating and inspiring them to succeed!

International Women's Day is a global day that celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, IWD is a national holiday.  The Online Coaching Signature Programme offered by Empowering Mumpreneurs, From Seed to Success, is designed to support women business owners by helping them to investigate ways in which they can successfully develop and grow their business, whether it's a new start-up in its infancy or an established business.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s important for working women to find balance and fulfilment in their lives.  Many women decide to set up home-run businesses in order to achieve the flexibility that motherhood dictates, whilst still enabling mums to contribute financially to the household.

In the UK approximately 74% of women who established their own business did so before their child reached the age of two. The majority of mums setting up in business learn as they go and frequently have little business experience. The Empowering Mumpreneurs online package gives them all the information and support to help them learn how to run a business successfully and enable them to realise their true business aspirations.”

The new Empowering Mumpreneurs website and its longer-established sister site Empowering Mums, are packed with free information as well as exercises, principles, techniques and tips to enable busy women live a fulfilled, balanced and enjoyable life.  For further details on the Empowering Mumpreneurs signature programme From Seed To Success, please visit:  http://www.empoweringmums.co.uk/Empowering-Mumpreneurs/Mumpreneurs-Online.php

About International Women’s Day

International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900's, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialised world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

In 1910 a woman named a Clara Zetkin (Leader of the 'Women's Office' for the Social Democratic Party in Germany) tabled the idea of an International Women's Day. She proposed that every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day - a Women's Day - to press for their demands. The conference of over 100 women from 17 countries, representing unions, socialist parties, working women's clubs, and including the first three women elected to the Finnish parliament, greeted Zetkin's suggestion with unanimous approval and thus International Women's Day was the result.

Following the decision agreed at Copenhagen in 1911, International Women's Day (IWD) was honoured the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on 19 March. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women's rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination.
