Believe In Your Brand

A brand isn’t a company name, logo or product. It is the representation of your entire business: what you offer, how you deliver it, what customers expect and you. Everything you and your business portrays is part of your brand and yours will only be successful if you truly believe in it.

If you don’t believe in your brand, why will anyone else? Unless you visibly and passionately believe in your brand – its customer promise, service, product and ethos – your business won’t stand a chance in the wider commercial community.

It may be that you are the heart and soul of your business, which makes it far easier for you to sell your service offering. You have shed the blood sweat and tears needed to make it this far. You know exactly how your product or service operates and have a good understanding of your marketplace. If you are in this position, it is vital you do not get complacent. If you offer a controversial personal opinion on social media, for example, this could reflect negatively on your brand and potentially damage its ongoing success. You must always be mindful of how you portray yourself and your business, to ensure your brand image remains intact.

If you run a franchise or operate as part of a bigger brand, you may have questions about the credibility of a product or service. If you find yourself in this position, ensure you research your parent company in great detail. Learn about the positive and negative aspects of the business, so if you are ever asked a question about some historic bad press, you will be able to provide an informed answer. Knowing more about the business will give you the confidence you need to effectively sell the products and services, and ignite your thirst to be the best within that brand.

If you did establish your business from scratch, it may be that sales have recently flat-lined. If you feel you have lost your way or have started to doubt the power of your brand, question why this has happened. Reassess your reasons for starting the business in the first place and, if they are still valid, work on rekindling your love for it. You will begin to see the power of your brand when you consider the benefits it brings your family!
