3 Sneaky Obstacles That Might Clutter Your Mind!

Some things that clutter up our minds can be easy to spot. For example, we often know that we’re trying to hold too much information in our minds, yet we still do it. However, there are a few things that are not so easy to recognise. Not only do they clutter our minds, but they also put an enormous obstacle in our path. Today, we’re sharing three sneaky obstacles that may have slipped into your life unnoticed.

 

1. So-called Friends

Just because someone is your friend doesn’t mean that they are a real one. It’s a sad fact of life that sometimes those we are closest to will try to hold us back. They don’t mean to, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t sabotage us unconsciously. It is most common for this to come to light as you experience some success. As you step up a level, these so-called friends start questioning you. They don't mean any harm. They’re just unable to understand where you are in your life right now.

You can spot these so-called friends in a few ways. They might spend most of their time complaining to you. When this is the case, you'll feel your energy levels and mood drop. Some people use the term "energy vampires", but we think that’s a bit harsh! They may also make unreasonable demands or show a lack of understanding. If your mind is preoccupied with how best to keep them happy or handle them, it's a sure sign that they are perhaps no longer a true friend.

 

2. A Goal That Doesn’t Serve You

We’ve talked a lot about goals in our blog posts earlier this year. One thing we mentioned was remaining flexible. What we can be sure of in life is that unexpected things will happen. Our priorities can change.

If you’re working towards a goal that will no longer serve you, then it’s a great waste of your time and energy. It will clutter up your mind as you continue to work towards it, not realising that it will no longer benefit you or it's not what you want anymore. Give yourself those few minutes it'll take to check in with those goals and ensure they are serving you.

 

3. The Wrong Kind Of Work

This can be a significant obstacle, yet we often ignore it, telling ourselves that it's just part of life. For many of the women I work with, it usually turns out to be the heart of the problem. There is no denying that most of us need to work to support our families. However, that doesn't mean our work has to be to our detriment.

For far too many women, their work clutters their minds causing stress and anxiety as they try to balance it all. It can be a scary thought, but if you're in the wrong kind of work, one of the best things you could do is make a change.
